About DERSec LabTest
LabTest Pro software automates the certification procedure by communicating with laboratory hardware through Ethernet, serial, or GPIB programmatic interfaces. Generally, laboratory setups include a DC power supply, AC grid simulator, data acquisition system (DAQ), and the Equipment Under Test (EUT). With this equipment, test sequences are executed based on the standard requirements, log data is captured, and the results are processed to assess the pass/fail performance of the EUT.
LabTest includes automation testing solutions for the IEEE 1547.1-2020/UL 1741 SB protocols, including tests for Voltage Trip and Voltage Ride-Through, Voltage Disturbances in Continuous Region, Frequency Trip and Frequency Ride-Through, Voltage Phase-Angle Change Ride-Through, Enter Service, Limit Active Power, Constant Power Factor Mode, Voltage-Reactive Power Mode, Active Power-Reactive Power Mode, Constant Reactive Power Mode, Voltage-Active Power Mode, Frequency-Droop Capability, and interoperability tests, Nameplate, Configuration, and Monitoring.
DERSec is continuously adding new equipment drivers based on customer needs. Currently the software includes drivers for the following:
- DER protocols – SunSpec Modbus, IEEE 2030.5, and IEEE 1815 (DNP3)
- DC Simulators – Ametek TerraSAS, Chroma, Keysight, Regatron, NHR, Elektro-Automatik, Opal-RT, Manual Prompts

LabTest Pro runs IEEE 1547.1 certification tests based on user-selectable equipment and test configuration parameters. The tests are executed in accordance with the interconnection standard and then the DAQ data is post-processed to generate the pass/fail results based on the certification criteria. The final analysis is in Microsoft Excel format with highlighted areas of certification success or non-compliance.
